Space Perspective Opens Reservations for Stratosphere Balloon Adventures: $125,000 per Seat on Neptune

Space Perspective is now accepting reservations for an extraordinary stratospheric journey aboard its Neptune capsule. At $125,000 USD per seat, this exclusive experience offers breathtaking views from the edge of space.

Announced in June 2020, the U.S. startup's high-altitude balloon flights carry up to eight passengers in the pressurized Neptune cabin, suspended beneath a balloon as wide as a football field. Riders ascend to around 30 kilometers in the stratosphere for a gentle, extended voyage.

Commercial flights are slated to begin as early as 2024, with tickets priced at $125,000 (about €112,000). Bookings are open now for pioneering explorers.

First Test Flight Success

Ahead of passenger flights, Space Perspective completed uncrewed tests. The inaugural launch on June 18 from Florida's Space Coast Spaceport lasted 6 hours and 39 minutes, peaking at a maximum altitude of 33,043 meters before a planned splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico, 80 kilometers offshore.

This mission used a full-scale mock-up of the capsule. The team is now refining the Neptune design for upcoming tests with a flight-ready prototype.

Operational flights will mirror this profile, potentially drifting eastward over the Atlantic based on winds, per SpaceNews reports.

Competing in Space Tourism

Space Perspective enters a competitive field alongside Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin.

Unlike their suborbital rockets reaching 100 kilometers in just 11 minutes, Neptune delivers a smoother, longer ride. Yet at half the $250,000 price of rivals, it appeals to more adventurers seeking accessible space access.
